to the Croatian cinematographers
Of course I will support your wake-up call – because the Croatian Government and the Croatian State Intellectual Property Office are proposing changes to the Croatian copyright law, which would weaken the Croatian cinematographers position as rightful authors of the image.
Could anybody let me understand who is interested in restricting the authors rights… the quite old question seems to be – who has the benefit?
Should we simply ignore the achievements regulated in the whole cultural world (and won in the course of history)?
To open another door to further piracy on the one hand and on the other hand to the quite profane financial interests that deny the legitimate and legal participation in the profits of our creative work?
Not to mention a minimum of respect and recognition for visual design for our professions.
Sometimes it is even simply jealous or conservative status considerations that underlie such initiatives…
I would like to join the declared opinion I read in the letter from IMAGO, the International Federation of Cinematographers, and I would be very surprised by the actions of the Croatian government in the hope that this legislative proposal will be reconsidered.
So please let me express my solidarity and sympathy to the Croatian colleagues.
All the best
Christian Berger
